What BIPS Offers Military Students
Get Credit for Your Military Training
Based on your military background, you may be eligible for up to 60 hours of elective credit for your American Council on Education (ACE) approved training and education as documented on the Joint Services Transcript (JST). Elective credit varies by individual, as your JST must be reviewed for your specific education and training. JST credits cannot be substituted for major or general education courses.
A Specialized Military Leadership Track
Developed in consultation with current military leaders, the BIPS Service Area of Focus includes a track designed for those committed to a career in the armed forces. Courses develop skills specific to military needs — preparing students for senior staff and command roles. Choose from these topics:
- Ethical Leadership
- Project Management
- Applied Workplace Technologies
- Contemporary Warfare
- Power of Influence
- New courses are being added each semester. Visit our Full Course Listing for the latest options with course descriptions.

Military Education Benefits
If you’re a veteran or active duty military service member, you may be eligible for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) GI Bills that cover tuition, and the Department of Defense Tuition Assistance Programs. If you’re considering enrolling, the Military-Affiliated Services Office can help you navigate the process.
Military Student Support
UNC Greensboro is nationally recognized for its commitment to military-affiliated students. The university has been named a Military Friendly® School by VIQTORY for the past eight years, and Military Times includes UNCG on its Best for Vets: Colleges 2019 list. In addition, the Military-Affiliated Services Office offers a supportive atmosphere and connections with campus resources.
An Action-Oriented Curriculum
Our professors know that students learn best by doing, so they challenge students to reach beyond the theory. Although courses are online, learning will be an active experience, with an emphasis on real-world projects instead of exams.
Online, But Not on Your Own
Although BIPS is a fully online program, you won’t be doing this alone. Your support team will work with you to chart a clear path to graduation, designed just for you based on your career goals, interests, and any transfer credits or military experience you have. The support team will also connect you with campus resources and check in with you throughout the program.
